Mission Statement

The Women In Business Mission is to organize professional, social and volunteer events designed to enhance and encourage the networking of MBA's while developing an appreciation for the role of women in business.

History

Started in February 2001, the Women in Business (WIB) Network is an association of women and men interested in meeting and networking with other students and alumni in Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business MBA Programs. Since its inception, the network has grown to over 150 members including current students and alumni.

Daniele Dattilo, a full-time student in the Evening MBA Program at Santa Clara, started the Network. Knowing that the most valuable asset in an MBA program are the people, Daniele was encouraged by Dean Barry Posner's Leadership course, "Social Psychology of Leadership", to create a student-led network that would foster these relationships over time.

Twenty-five women were at the first meeting on February 16, 2001 and since that time the network has grown to over 150 members! In May 2003, the first SCU Women in Business Conference was held on the Santa Clara University Campus. As the first student-led network, the WIB has become a strong force on the Santa Clara University campus and is being used as the example for future networks to follow. An executive committee leads the network with a President and five Vice Presidents in the areas of Community Service, Conference, Membership and Finance, Networking, and Technology.
